About This Initiative
The vision is to build a workforce of lactation professionals that reflect the communities they serve & increase access to comprehensive maternal-infant health services, bringing quality care to the community, especially those disproportionately impacted, historically excluded & culturally marginalized.
The "Boobie Bus" will serve as a brave & inclusive environment for families to explore birth & infant feeding on their terms.
Key Components
Train & compensate Springfield residents as peer lactation counselors to form H.E.A.L.S. Team, supervised by IBCLCs
"Boobie Bus" will travel on a weekly rotating schedule, visiting every Springfield neighborhood, schools, community events, fairs, businesses & organizations
H.E.A.L.S. Team will offer one-on-one/small group lactation support, baby weight checks, offer warm hand-off referral resources, & more on the "Boobie Bus"
Families will receive support at no cost on commUNITY clinic days & have access through insurance reimbursement/private pay for individual consultations
